TRENTON, N.J.—The Mercer County Improvement Authority has launched a new recycling program called “MercerMAX”—a free, online materials exchange program available to residents and businesses of Mercer County who would like to obtain materials or discard unwanted materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
MercerMAX promotes conservation of natural resources and landfill space by helping businesses and organizations find alternatives to the disposal of valuable materials. “It’s an easy, low-cost way to reduce the amount of waste disposed of in our landfills,” Hughes said. “The old adage ‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ is the centerpiece of MercerMAX. This program offers an outlet for business owners and residents to dispose of materials that somebody, somewhere could probably use.”
MercerMAX will consist of two main sections, a listing of “available” materials and a listing of “wanted” materials. Within these two sections, the materials will be grouped into 15 categories such as metals, construction, containers, durable goods, and organic waste.
To view materials or list materials, please visit MercerMAX at www.mercermax.org. For more information about MercerMAX, please contact the MCIA’s Recycling Department at (609) 278-8086.
